Brucellosis (Undulant fever)
SYMPTOMS may include sudden chills, fever, diarrhea, severe headache, mild
malaise, back and muscular pain. Temperature rises in the evening and fall
to near-normal in the morning with profuse sweating. Fever may presist for
1 to 5 weeks then disappear. It may return repeatedly.
CAUSES are an infection that is transmitted to humans from cattle, goats and
pigs via infected milk or the carcass.
TREATMENT. Antibiotics and other medication may be required.
